ABOUT

In her oil and acrylic paintings Jana Jacob explores private spaces: the actual home, nudity, the private relationship between two people and the space behind the eyes. The artist likes to play with the role of the spectator: making him a secret observer or evoking a sense of ambiguity and irritation. Using a cold, sometimes sober palette, the artist explores different textures and surfaces. A keen interest in the language of gesture is evident, between two people or alone in their own homes, without posing for a perfect form.

In her latest oil paintings Jana Jacob designs a new reality that is composed of alienated everyday gestures and seemingly weightless objects/organisms into an absurd game of realities. Both subjects enter into a new relationship that allows a hybrid reading.
